Executive Goalkeeper Advisory Council: GOAL 3 - Good Health and Well Being

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

Good health is essential to sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda reflects the complexity and interconnectedness of the two. It considers widening economic and social inequalities, rapid urbanization, threats to the climate and the environment, the continuing burden of HIV and other infectious diseases, and emerging challenges such as noncommunicable diseases. Universal health coverage will be integral to achieving SDG 3, ending poverty and reducing inequalities. Emerging global health priorities not explicitly included in the SDGs, including antimicrobial resistance, also demand action.

But the world is off-track to achieve the health-related SDGs. At least 400 million people have no basic healthcare, and 40 percent lack social protection. Source: UNDP. It calls for more research and development, increased health financing, and strengthened capacity of all countries in health risk reduction and management.

The SDGs Healthcare Executive Goalkeeper Committee is the policy advocacy arm of the initiative aimed at identifying actionable strategies & policies that can accelerate healthcare development and create a sustainable healthcare environment at all levels.

This committee is a focused group of leaders, policy makers, NGOs and celebrities who will work together towards achieving Agenda 2030. This committee will present an annual report of its findings to all relevant stakeholders and will play a key role in complementing governments’ efforts to achieve the country’s healthcare objectives by working very closely with State Level SDGs Goalkeepers Committees.
