‘Building Back Better’

Keynote Address on ‘Building Back Better’

The COVID19 pandemic that the world is grappling with today has presented before us the stark realties of human behavior towards our natural resources. It is a timely reminder that the grave threat of Climate Change has not yet disappeared and has left us to make critical decisions that will have a significant impact on our future generations. It clearly alludes to the fact that usage of low carbon technologies, frugal resources and simplistic living can go a long way in avoiding any environmental catastrophe. While countries across the globe have announced their ambitious mega plans to achieve the goal of Net Zero, it would certainly require a coherent and coordinated approach by Governments, cities, businesses, and industries respectively across different geographies. The journey to Net Zero can be achieved by following a two pronged approach i.e. to reduce/ stop GHG emissions and the removal of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere.

Definitely, 2021 will be an important year to make strategic decisions for ensuring a faster transition to greener and more inclusive economies.
